England kicked off their Super 8s campaign in style with a commanding 8-wicket victory over co-hosts West Indies. After winning the toss, Jos Buttler chose to bowl first, and England’s bowlers restricted West Indies to 180/4 in their 20 overs.

West Indies began strongly with openers Brandon King and Johnson Charles setting a solid platform. King retired hurt on 23, and Nicholas Pooran joined Charles to take the total to 54 by the end of the powerplay. Charles fell for 38, and skipper Rovman Powell played a brisk 36 off 17 balls. Pooran added 36 before being dismissed by Jofra Archer. Despite a late cameo of 28* off 15 balls from Sherfane Rutherford, England’s spinners, Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali, kept the run rate in check.

Chasing 181, England’s openers Phil Salt and Jos Buttler added 67 for the first wicket. Salt, dropped early, capitalized with an unbeaten 87 off 47 balls, featuring seven fours and five sixes. Jonny Bairstow’s 48* off 26 balls ensured England’s comfortable chase. Despite Roston Chase’s economical spell, the West Indies seamers struggled, allowing England to cruise to victory with ease.

England’s clinical performance sets a strong tone for their Super 8s campaign, highlighting their balanced attack and batting depth.
